The Role:
In the position of Purchasing Manager / Procurement Manager you will focus on sourcing alternative and cost effective suppliers for one of the UK's leading bakery retailers. Based in Newcastle, the Purchasing Manager's role will be to facilitate effective management of current suppliers whilst developing new strategies for the sourcing of food ingredients for the business.

The Purchasing Manager / Procurement Manager will identify opportunities to improve the value for money obtained for food/commodity purchases across the Group, as well as taking ownership for and driving key cost saving initiatives throughout the business. The Purchasing Manager's main objective is to ensure value for money, and to that end you'll develop strong relationships with suppliers to ensure that this is achieved.

In addition the Purchasing Manager / Procurement Manager will work closely with the internal stakeholders to ensure that all areas of the supply chain meet business needs, whilst continuously identifying improvements to current procurement practices, proactively influencing key stakeholders to implement improvement projects whilst working in a fast paced environment on multiple projects simultaneously.

The Candidate:
The ideal candidate for the Purchasing Manager / Procurement Manager vacancy will have a strong background in procurement or purchasing, and will possess demonstrable experience of working in an FMCG environment, along with a track record of successful implementation of value improvement projects. You'll also possess demonstrable market knowledge within the food purchasing arena, as well as experience of supplier selection and evaluation, sourcing ingredients to required standards and obtaining value for money through market knowledge and the ability to successfully negotiate.

You will be a strong, influential communicator with excellent organization and planning skills. A self motivated team player, you will be driven by a passion to deliver continuous improvement.
